Keratin Process: I really wanted to provide a full review of Keratin service I received from Rachel. But, I’ll update this review after washing my hair after 72 hours (no water or wet hair!!). I have enjoyed the service, Rachel is a very friendly professional hairdresser who masters her job and values her business and clients. The place is designed to give the sense that everything here is only for you, so, you feel privacy and full care. I enjoyed the small details of the product application, it made feel like am the heart of the process, which is very true. You will feel you’re the heart of the place and service provided. I will definitely keep doing my hair at Rachel’s. Now… can’t wait to wash off keratin and see the final results! Stay tuned!! ~ Maha T

Rachel was thoughtful and professional and suggested a solution to achieve the look I was going for. I wanted platinum highlights that were piecey and chunky. She suggested adding back in some of my naturally dark brown color in order that the highlights not all blend together with the old ones. We both were surprised at the level of darkness. The highlights were nice and icy and platinum though! We stayed in touch and Rachel had me come back in the next day and she treated the dark hair to bring it up a level and she added more highlights. Both of these sessions were labor intensive and required a great deal of skill and finesse. She was patient and thoughtful and was determined that I be happy with the results. I found Rachel online when I was in urgent need of a haircut. And I am so glad I did! I recently moved from Europe to the US and I have been going to the same hairdresser there for years. So you can imagine switching hairdressers is always a little stressy but she made me feel very comfortable from the get go. Not only did she accommodate my urgent request, she also made me feel right at home. She really takes her time to listen what you would like, gives very professional advice and the over all experience was just lovely. Not only do I love how my hair looks, she makes you feel beautiful and you leave her salon relaxed and her bubbly personality is just infectious. Rachel is extremely talented. I just moved to the Ballston area and found Rachel online. She was very quick to respond to my email and flexible when scheduling my appointment. When I arrived to her salon studio, she was very welcoming and considerate of covid protocols asking if I wanted her to wear a mask during our time together. When I sat in the chair she asked me what I was looking for, what I’ve done in the past, and asked a lot of additional questions. I loved that she allowed me to share my vision and offered suggestions based on her expertise. Rachel truly made me feel at home in her studio, she put music on and we had wonderful conversations, I felt like I had known her forever! Rachel is a fantastic hair stylist. My first experience with her was with my daughter who wanted to get hair highlights for her 16th birthday. Even though it was a last-minute appointment, she helped her to get what she wanted (what is hard when your daughter is a teenager!) After this experience, I decided to color my hair (which was something that I hadn’t done in a long time) for a wedding. I told her what I wanted, and she did a beautiful balayage. She is a great listener, and she does everything until you are satisfied with the results. Since that day (Sep 2023) I come to her salon for color touch-ups and haircuts, and I love the way my hair looks every day. ~ Maria E

It is clear that Rachel is someone who is supremely talented at what she does through my consistent appointments with her throughout the past year. For years I have tried to skate by going to hair cutterys that could definitely get the job done when it came to a trim albeit sometimes not. But, becoming a regular client of Rachel’s has done wonders for my hair - I have thick wavy hair- in terms of cutting for my hair type and through her use of the right hair products for my hair type. I’ve definitely learned the value of finding an AMAZING hair stylist who genuinely wants you to not only look beautiful when you leave her chair but also feel beautiful. ~ Katherine

I love working with Rachel. She’s kind and super talented. Also really easy to schedule with, and very responsive! Rachel listens carefully and offers knowledgeable guidance that always helps me get the result I really want, whether I’m just looking for a touch up or trying something new. I usually mix it up a bit each time because I can trust the results will be great! I trusted her to give me bangs for the first time ever and I LOVE them (plus she offered great advice on ways to style them) and her balayage is super fun while staying elegant and natural. It's been a journey for me finding the right hair stylist and colorist in DC. Rachel was great (she runs her own salon in the Sola salon studios in Ballston in Arlington). I asked for "bronde" balayage and she was able to take exactly what I said I was looking for and make my hair look like me--but better! She's also super personable and easy to talk to. She also took her time to give me a quick trim on my bangs and explained everything as she was doing it. She really is an artist and you can tell she takes her craft seriously. finally found my hairstyler for life! This is the second time I scheduled an appointment with RM and I left feeling amazing and someone complimented my look on the way to my car. The first time I went my hair was so damaged so it was just to restore its health and I liked her work, so now that my hair was in good health I wanted to have a real haircut and new style and OMG she delivered, I feel so empowered. Rachel has been so helpful on my journey back to coloring my hair! I took a break from coloring during the pandemic and had some bad experiences trying to find the right stylist since then. Rachel has been very communicative, informative and has worked with me to create a color I love! We lightened and toned my hair first to get the right effect, and have since been exploring full color and other methods to maintain my new cherry cola hair that is perfect for the winter season. She was also able to cut my fine hair in a way that helped give it shape. ~ Amanda

Finding a hair stylist that can truly cut short hair isn't easy, even in Arlington but thankfully I found Rachel. I have a modified long pixie cut. I came to Rachel after trying 3 other stylist with alot of experience but my hair still wasn't cut properly. Rachel was great about explaining what needed to be done to correct my cut and how long it would take to look like the picture I brought her. Not to mention she's a fabulous colorist too. I trusted the process and 5 months and 2 haircuts later, we achieved perfection. I highly recommend her. Especially for high end technical cuts. ~ Jennifer C

Rachel was awesome. I went to her for a balayage touch up and haircut. I’m crazy busy and needed something easy to deal with. I told her to do whatever she wanted. She matched my balayage perfectly! She even added in some color underneath so that when I pull it back (which is often) the underside of my hair isn’t so obviously darker than the rest. The cut and style looked amazing as well. She is friendly, helpful, and really listens to you in order to achieve exactly what you want/need in your hairstyle. She’s also incredibly friendly and a great conversationalist. Go see Rachel Marie! I’ve had my hair colored for years and I often left salons disappointed and mad, given the cost. I started going to Rachel about a year ago and my hair has dramatically improved. I particularly appreciate her honesty and customized focus. Correcting years of abuse takes time and she walked me through it all setting realistic expectations. If she doesn’t like the outcome, she makes it right. My hair is healthier and l love the color. Last but not least, she is joyful. I have been Rachel's client for over a year now and I can't say enough good things about her. She is up front with what can and cannot be done with your hair, and she really know her colors. I went to her to get my hair dyed pink again, and she has been able to keep my hair healthy and colorful year round. I also really enjoy that this is a one on one salon, so there will never be other clients at the same time as you. Her prices are fair for the area and she is an excellent person to spend a couple hours with every two months. ~ Lais G

Rachel took such great care of me! :) I have been looking for a new hairdresser since relocating (you know how hard that can be), and I was so impressed by Rachel. She asked for photos of my hair when I love it, what I don't love, and literally did prep work to make sure she was prepared to make it a great experience for me. I had a great experience with Rachel! She transformed my long, limp hair into a voluminous dream!! I gave her free reign and basically just said, “help me!” She added tons of movement and volume by giving me lots of layers and face framing curtain bangs. I’ve had bad haircut experiences in the past so I was a bit nervous walking in but Rachel is so great and completely transformed my look and gave me all I could hope for! I had the absolute best time with Rachel. I have been looking for a stylist since I moved to the DMV and I’m so glad I found her. From the minute I walked in I felt super safe and welcomed. Had such a great haircut with Rachel Marie! I desperately needed to refresh my wavy hair, which is relatively thick and had gotten quite long. After too many months without a trim, it was weighed down with dead ends. Now it feels lighter and looks so much healthier with layers that will help my natural texture thrive. Rachel is an amazing balayage expert! She’s extremely knowledgeable about how to add dimension and work with fine hair. Her prices are very reasonable and upfront. She asks good questions to better understand what you like and how you normally style your hair so she can offer specific advice. Her salon is very clean and she’s always punctual! Rachel is the best. She has been doing my hair since about 2017. I’ve had many different styles including short bobs, medium layers, long layers, many different colors, etc. she has done them all flawlessly. Rachel helped me correct my color from a prior experience at a different salon. She took the time to understand what I wanted, and created a perfect color for me :) she also cleaned up my hair cut.
